Feats of strength like a strict muscle up, a heavy clean and jerk, or even a handstand push up? Those who have a strong foundation of strength in the basics. Chasing strength in the basics will yield dividends in the long haul. Getting strong in the basics is what going to level you up in all areas of your life. Here are five reasons you want to get strong in the basics and build a strong foundation. Makes Life Easier
Strong foundation in the body will make all life’s daily activities easier. Being proficient in push ups makes it easier to get up and off the ground. Powerful deadlift allows you to lift and pick up things with ease. Any activity you love doing will be amplified. Winter is here and I promise you will enjoy skiing much more when you’re strong! Building Muscle that Performs Imagine having a strong body look as strong as it performs. Building strength in the core movements will allow you to build more muscle as you will be able to lift heavier weights with higher volume. This leads to being able to handle the load that leads to building a body that exhibits confidence. Resilience When you focus on the foundation of strength, you become more resilient. Properly progressing your strength before you jump into more complex movements prepares your tissues and muscles to handle harder movements. When situation happens where you could of gotten injured, you are able to handle it and avoid injury or recover much quicker. Life is better when you know you can take what is thrown at you! Faster Skill Acquisition Strong foundation leads to faster skill development. Maybe you want to be able to perform muscle up or climb over a six foot wall. With a solid pull up and dips, you can easily acquire the skills to do those movements. Think about how hard it would be to climb over a wall if you are not able to pull yourself up onto the wall then dip up to get over it. Most of the time, it is not the lack of skill but the lack of strength to perform the skill. Get strong and the skills will come to you. Confidence There is something about being strong and capable that brings confidence into your life. Think about how it feels knowing that you can do any activity you chose because you have the capability. You will have confidence and ease of mind knowing you can take on any activity that get thrown your way when they come up. Chase strength and be a stronger, more confident human. It will amplify all aspects of your life and even created opportunities that you could not see before. The empowerment and confidence you gain will be like no other. Now go out get strong and see what you are capable of!
