What's a typical workout at Axistence Athletics?

We mix it up from day to day, but most workouts of the day (WODs) at Axistence have certain components in common. ​

WODs are 1 hour long and typically include:
  • Warmup: Mobility work, light cardio, light lifting, reviewing skills we'll do that day.
  • Strength/Gymnastics Conditioning: A combination of weight training movements.
  • Metabolic/Work Capacity conditioning: A combination of skills an movements that increase heart rate.
  • Cool down: Stretching and movements to lower heart rate and increase mobility.

Fitness Programming at Axistence
Our coaches plan WODs seasonally to help members get stronger and faster. We measure our efforts by "testing" periodically. This just means we do one workout at the beginning of a season, then do that same workout again at the end to see how it compares. We can tell you all about how and why we plan the workouts the way we do, but the key things to know are these:
  • We will be your guides. Our coaches are all certified in multiple disciplines and they read books on fitness for fun. 
  • We don't follow one single philosophy. We take the best concepts from a variety of disciplines and combine them, so we aren't technically a CrossFit gym, or a Kettlebell gym, or a MovNat gym.
  • We can scale anything. We design workouts so they're accessible to all fitness levels, from elite athletes to people who are differently abled or are just getting started.
  • We teach you what you need to know. We'll teach you the lingo, the moves and how to choose the right modifications, if you need them, so you're good to go.
